There seems to be a repertory company that everyone seems to know of people who can be counted on to simply complain. Either complaining or just making it about themselves. Perhaps names like Demi Lovato comes to mind, for instance.
Another name that always seems to come up in discussions like these is the alleged comedian Kathy Griffin. Griffin made some choice comments after Tesla CEO Elon Musk completed his takeover of Twitter.
Griffin is not happy Musk will start charging people for their coveted blue check mark.
It was just reported by Newsweek that:
The reported proposal has led to a backlash among some verified users on Twitter. Comedian Kathy Griffin made clear her feelings on the matter when she tweeted to her followers on Monday: “Like, I like you guys and all, but not $20.00 a month like. Inflation!”
Asked by one of her followers which platform she would defect to, Griffin responded: “I am enjoying [TikTok]. I will look into blue sky and I think there’s two other ones people are talking about.”
Newsweek went on to report that:
Another Twitter user said that they suspected “the Musk plan is to float $20 so when he lands at $5 it seems reasonable.”
“Agree,” Griffin wrote back in a since-deleted tweet. “I don’t think it’s that blue check people are too cheap to pay 20 bucks a month, I just don’t wanna give any money to Elon Musk and the Saudi family. I’ll stay until the midterms. In the meantime, I’m signing up for all other sites until we can settle on one.”
The Verge went on to report that:
“The directive is to change Twitter Blue, the company’s optional, $4.99 a month subscription that unlocks additional features, into a more expensive subscription that also verifies users, according to people familiar with the matter and internal correspondence seen by The Verge.
“Twitter is currently planning to charge $19.99 for the new Twitter Blue subscription. Under the current plan, verified users would have 90 days to subscribe or lose their blue checkmark.
The Verge went on to report that:
“Employees working on the project were told on Sunday that they need to meet a deadline of November 7th to launch the feature or they will be fired.
“Musk has been clear in the months leading up to his acquisition that he wanted to revamp how Twitter verifies accounts and handles bots.
“On Sunday, he tweeted: “The whole verification process is being revamped right now.”
So, as one might predict, Musk’s recent purchase of Twitter has set off all kinds of liberal alarm bells. All the people who simply can’t stand the thought of hearing an opposing view have come out of the woodwork. Just the other day, The Raging Patriot reported that bigger news than the takeover is his move to immediately fire several top-tier employees. CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and head of legal policy, trust, and safety Vijaya Gadde were all on the chopping block. Musk had previously accused these three of misleading him and his investors about the number of fake accounts present on the platform according to a source reporting to Fox Business.
