In a new and recent article by Newsmax, Arizona Republicans are urging judges to end mail-in voting. A lawyer for the Arizona Republican Party and its firebrand leader Kelli Ward urged a judge on Friday to invalidate Arizona’s overwhelmingly popular system, for mail-in voting.

“90% of voters actually use mail-in ballots, Voting by mail is an inconsistency with the Arizona Constitution requirement for secret ballot attorney Alex Kolodin argued. He urged a Mojave County judge to ban the practice for nearly all voters in the 2022 general election in November, but not for the primary in August, for which ballots are scheduled to be mailed next month.”

This case in Arizona is just the latest and a multi-pronged effort by Ward and the Arizona Party of Republicans to roll back a system of the no-excuse absentee ballots, that the GOP-controlled legislature has adopted since 1991. They have also pushed a requirement for most people to cast a ballot in person or on election day. That’s one person Donald Trump repeats the lie that he lost the 2020 election because of a fraud in the state of Arizona and other big battleground states.

“Only the voters of the state and not the state legislature can authorize mail voting by amending the Constitution.” Argued Kolodin. “I think it’s time for our state to have that debate and voters to get to decide for themselves what sort of system of absentee voting they’re comfortable with”.

lawyers for the state of Arizona and County election officials as well as the Arizona Democratic Party said that vote by mail laws have plenty of secrecy safeguards in place, and nothing in the state constitution prohibits the legislature from allowing citizens to vote by mail. It was also pointed out how it would be extremely difficult for the election officials to greatly expand in-person polling places, which served just 10% of the voters in 2020, In time for the 2022 general election.

“They are not magicians,” said Karen Hartman-Tellez, Who is the lawyer from Maricopa County, that represents election officials in six counties. “They cannot conjure polling places or poll workers out of nothing.” Mohave County Superior Court judge Lee Jansen hopes to issue a verdict by noon on Monday.

Ward and the GOP of Arizona originally filed their lawsuit directly with the Arizona State Supreme Court earlier in the year, A highly unusual step, but all the justices felt it necessary to go through a trial court first and they would only consider it on an appeal. They refound the case last month in Mojave County, where award resides and the most conservative county in the state.

This is an important step in America’s future as mail-in voting has caused a lot of problems, especially in the 2020 general election where ballot box stuffing or ballot fudging was a big issue. I feel if you’re going to vote I agree with what the Republicans are saying you should vote the day of, and in person so there’s no way your vote can be changed or forged, or whoever would buy your name to help a Democrat candidate win whatever it may be.
