South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is entering a GOP internal war, and she’s siding with former President Donald Trump. The popular Republican governor has endorsed Kelly Tshibaka, the former state commissioner of administration, who is challenging incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who has been heavily chastised by conservatives for voting to convict former President Donald Trump during his second impeachment.

“Kelly Tshibaka will be an America First senator who understands that what is good for Alaska is also good for the rest of the country.” “She will fight for all residents’ constitutional rights and try to revitalize the Alaskan economy, which has been destroyed by the Biden administration’s horrible policies,” Noem said in a statement obtained exclusively by Breitbart.

“I am happy to support Kelly and look forward to working with her on topics we share for many years,” Noem added. Following the Capitol protest, Murkowski publicly criticized Trump and called on him to resign before of Biden’s inauguration on January 20. “I want him to step down.” I want him to leave. “He’s already done enough harm,” she told the Anchorage Daily News at the time. The old Alaska state government expressed gratitude to Noem for her assistance. “It is a great honor, and I am glad for the support of Kristi Noem, one of the most successful governors in the country.”

Tshibaka received former President Donald Trump’s backing last summer and is running against establishment-backed incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), one of the only Republican senators to vote to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Tshibaka has consistently outperformed Murkowski in polls, with 45.4 percent of the vote versus Murkowski’s 28.7 percent in late March.

Sensing a movement toward an “America First” ideology among Alaska voters, Murkowski has confessed to corporate media outlets that she may lose her primary challenge against Tshibaka. “I may not be re-elected,” Murkowski said in late April, referring to the conclusion of her 20-year Senate tenure. “It’s possible that Alaskans will say, ‘No, we want an absolute, straight-up, always, always, 100-percent, never-question, rubber-stamp Republican.'”

Tshibaka, who was also endorsed by the Alaska Republican Party, issued a statement praising Noem for her support. “It is a great honor, and I am glad for the support of Kristi Noem, one of the most successful governors in the country.” “She knows what it’s like when the federal government seizes control of vast swaths of your state’s territory and interferes with people’s lives,” Tshibaka added. “When I become Alaska’s next senator, I will always fight for our people’s rights, and I will never forget who hired me to represent them.” Alaska’s primary will be held on August 16, 2022.

Murkowski, for her part, has lately recognized that her reelection campaign is experiencing significant headwinds, and she has stated that she may lose. “I may not be re-elected,” Murkowski said of her 20-year Senate tenure, according to the New York Times. “It’s possible that Alaskans may say, ‘No, we want an absolute, down-the-line, always, always, 100-percent, never-question, rubber-stamp Republican,'” she said of Tshibaka, who is currently ahead in surveys. “And if they say that’s the way Alaska has gone — kind of like the way so many other regions of the country have gone — I have to accept that,” Murkowski continued.

Tshibaka lashed out at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) in December, saying she might not back him for party leader if the GOP regains control of the chamber in November. “Mitch McConnell has frequently bailed out Joe Biden, given him Senate votes as presents, which are the only things keeping the Biden administration alive,” she claimed. For example, after saving Biden with the previous debt limit hike, McConnell stated that he would never do it again. But he just did, with Lisa Murkowski’s assistance.”

Tshibaka remarked in an interview with the Washington Examiner a year ago that Murkowski chose a pointless fight with Trump. “She chose an unnecessary conflict with Donald Trump.” His initiatives were extremely beneficial to Alaska. “He made oil and gas employment available to us,” she explained. “He lowered our taxes.” He backed our soldiers. We have a significant military presence up here, and he rebuilt the military, and her impeachment vote infuriated many Alaskans,” Tshibaka continued.
