BREAKING: Jim Jordan Requests An FBI Briefing After A Whistleblower Leak Connected To A Pipe Bomb Investigation At The DNC And RNC.

Rep. Jim Jordan wants the FBI to brief him and other lawmakers after a special agent revealed information about the bureau’s investigation into two pipe bombs planted outside the Republican and Democratic Party headquarters in Washington, D.C., the evening before the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol Building.

According to the Washington Examiner, Jordan (R-Ohio), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray earlier this week stating that the “whistleblower disclosure” noted that the FBI’s Washington Field Office asked other field offices across the country last month to canvass every confidential human source for any relevant information regarding the incident.

According to Jordan, the communication to field officers requested that the canvass “cover sources reporting on all [kind of] threats” because the suspect’s “motivation and ideology remain unclear.”

The special agent, who was not identified, said that the request was “exceptional” since it occurred a year after the investigation began, and Jordan said it raises concerns about the progress and scope of the probe.

Authorities were able to disarm both bomb threats, but the identity of the perpetrator remains one of the major mysteries surrounding the Capitol violence.

The first pipe bomb was planted in an alley behind the Republican National Committee offices, while the second was planted on a park bench near the Democratic National Committee headquarters.

Jordan added that the agency failed to “adequately address requests” concerning the status of the investigation supplied by GOP colleague Rep. Bill Posey of Florida dating back to September.

According to Jordan’s letter, the FBI indicated that it was “exclusively sending material to the partisan Democrat-led Select Committee reviewing the events of January 6, 2021.” Jordan demanded that the FBI brief Congress by March 23.

According to the Washington Examiner, “the FBI asked the public for help in the investigation and published videos showing the culprit wearing a gray hoodie, a face mask, gloves, and black and light gray Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes with a yellow logo, carrying a bag and strolling through the Capitol Hill neighborhood on the evening of Jan. 5.”

In early January, following the discovery of the devices, the FBI offered a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the identity or arrest of the offender. Over the next year, the reward was raised to $75,000, then $100,000, where it still sits.

“Around the one-year anniversary of the Capitol disturbance, the bureau intensified its public drive for answers on the pipe bomber.”

“An FBI webpage has a plethora of information on the suspect, including various recordings of the would-be bomber and a map of the path they took the night of Jan. 5,” the Examiner’s story stated. According to the FBI, the pipe bombs were genuine and “could have been detonated.”
