Former President Donald Trump made his announcement Tuesday night that he’s officially running for president in 2024 at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
Mr. Trump’s sons Barron and Eric Trump were in the ballroom for the announcement along with Eric’s wife Lara Trump. Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner was in the audience.
Notably missing from the festivities of an audience of roughly 1,000 people were Ivanka Trump and Don Jr.
Much media speculation followed most likely forcing Ivanka, the eldest daughter of the former president, to make a statement regarding the reason for her absence.
She said that she will always support her dad but is taking time to focus on her family. The way she and her family were treated by the media, who can blame her for choosing her young family over politics?
Her statement read, “I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family,”
“I do not plan to be involved in politics,” Trump continued. “While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and will always be proud of many of our administration’s accomplishments.”
Ivanka Trump stressed that she is “extremely close” with her father and that “will never change,” but she is enjoying private life with her family in Florida.
A few years in politics can show you what’s important in life and it seems she has realized it.
She continued, “I’ve had many roles over the years but that of daughter is one of the most elemental and consequential,” she said. “I am loving this time with my kids, loving life in Miami and the freedom and privacy with having returned to the private sector. This has been one of the greatest times of my life.”
During her father’s presidency, Ivanka worked in the White House as an advisor and director of the Office of Economic Initiatives and Entrepreneurship.
Her husband Jared was a senior advisor to the president and the director of the Office of American Innovation. Ivanka and Jared have been married since 2009 and have three children.
The Trump family has been very busy. Besides campaigning for Republican candidates ahead of the midterm and planning the 45th president’s comeback, they celebrated Tiffany Trump’s wedding last weekend.
Former President Trump announced his candidacy in a one-hour live speech. He told his audience that “America’s comeback starts right now.”
Trump assured his base saying, “This will not be my campaign. This will be our campaign all together. Because the only force strong enough to defeat the massive corruption we are up against is you, the American people.”
