It was recently reported that an unoccupied vehicle belonging to a far-left “Squad” member was struck by gunfire over the weekend, but the lawmaker reported that no one was injured.Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), who is a member of the so-called Democratic “squad,”  said her vehicle was hit by gunfire in St. Louis, which — like other major U.S. cities run by Democrats — has seen a dramatic uptick in gun violence, murders, and other violent crime in recent years.

“I’m touched by everyone who has reached out,” Bush tweeted. “Thankfully no one was harmed. But any act of gun violence shakes your soul. That’s why our movement is working to invest in our communities, eradicate the root causes of gun violence, and keep everyone safe.”

Fox News adds:

Bush’s vehicle was parked in the St. Louis area when it was hit by gunfire Saturday morning, a local NBC affiliate reported. A source told the outlet that there was evidence that someone had tampered with the door handles of other cars in the vicinity at the time of the shooting.

It is not believed that Rep. Bush was targeted, the source told the NBC affiliate.

Bush, the Show Me State’s first black female lawmaker who defeated Democratic incumbent Rep. Lacy Clay in 2020, has become a leading voice in the national “defund the police” movement.

Last summer, as cities — including her own — were being rocked by violence, police officers were being targeted (in St. Louis, a former police captain, David Dorn, was gunned down), and citizens were under siege and dying, she justified spending thousands of dollars per month on her own private security, while still calling for defunding police (which would leave her less-well-to constituents completely at the mercy of criminals).

In August, CBS host Vladimir Duthiers asked Bush to respond to criticism over having spent some $70,000 on private security by that time.
