Breaking: Hollywood Legend David Zucker Goes Scorched Earth On Woke Studios “They’re destroying comedy because of 9% of the people who don’t have a sense of humor”

If Americans were being honest, they’d have to admit that what’s going on in our government right now is ripe for comedy. 

Saturday Night Live writers couldn’t ask for any better material for their weekly comedy skits. 

Unfortunately, there is so much reluctance to put out real comedy and humor for fear of being called a racist, a misogynist, and whatever other ‘ist’ the Left invents. 

In an interview with PragerU, Hollywood legend, David Zucker discussed what’s going on in Hollywood in the current political climate. 

Zucker directed films like Airplane!, The Naked Gun, and two Scary Movie sequels but now says that woke studio executives are putting a bullet in comedy. 

Everything is off-limits unless they are jokes about Donald Trump, white men, or Republican women. Jokes about those groups are approved humor. 

Back in the day, Zucker claims, “We could be as offensive as we liked, we went where the laughs were. We never worried about any of this stuff with the ‘Naked Guns’ or even the ‘Scary Movies.’

People at the top are now afraid of the Twitter mob and the woke left and they have ruined comedy because of it. 

“They’re destroying comedy because of nine percent of the people who don’t have a sense of humor. Comedy is in trouble, of course, but I think it’s going to come back. There’s a pendulum, and the pendulum will swing back. I’d like to see comedy filmmakers do comedies without fear,” Zucker said. 

When discussing the comedy film, Airplane!, Zucker claims that the film could still be made today “Just without the jokes.” 

Zucker had an idea for a satire film entitled James Bond and Mission: Impossible. When he brought it to a studio, he couldn’t believe which jokes the studio executives considered offensive. 

He called one joke “pure oatmeal, so mild,” and said, “I thought, ‘if this was the criteria for it, we’re in big trouble.’”

Zucker switched to the GOP following one of America’s most horrible tragedies, 9/11. 

“President Bill Clinton said, ‘what have we done to deserve this?’ but the Republicans were saying, ‘this is evil.'”

He asked himself, “Why am I still voting for Democrats if they don’t really share my values?”

Bill Maher, Joe Rogan, and Dave Chapelle are a few of those speaking out. They haven’t backed down and aren’t afraid to point out the ridiculousness going on in the country. 

Their careers have not suffered at all. Chappelle’s stand-up specials have made close to $50 million dollars over the past few years. 

Bill Maher’s HBO talk show Real Time with Bill Maher is in contract through 2024. And Joe Rogan signed a deal worth $100 million with Spotify to be the exclusive home to his podcast.
