BREAKING: Former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin who was Charged with Killing George Floyd has Been Released from Prison after Posting $1 Million Bond
Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who was filmed kneeling on the neck of George Floyd, who later died, has been released from prison after posting bond for 1 million dollars. Chauvin has been charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and manslaughter. The other officers who were there, Thomas Lane, J. Kueng, and Tou Thao have been charged with aiding and abetting as well as second-degree murder and manslaughter.
The Department of Corrections confirmed that he was released from Hennepin County jail in Oak Park Heights just before 11:30 am. It is unclear where this one million dollars has come from, but spokeswoman for the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association confirmed that the money did not come from them who has a legal defense fund.

Since the video was released in late May of Chauvin kneeling on George Floyd’s neck protests and riots have broken out all over the country demanding justice for Floyd. This new development is sure to spark new protests.
