Breaking: Derek Chauvin Makes Major Announcement Declares His Appeal In His Murder Conviction Against George Floyd

Derek Chauvin, former Minneapolis police offer who murdered George Floyd is now declaring his appeal for the murder against George Floyd.

Derek Chauvin’s attorney asked an appeals court panel Wednesday to toss out his conviction for the murder of George Floyd.

George Floyd’s murder caused civil unrest across the United States of America.

The Washington Examiner Reported

Chauvin’s attorney William Mohrman recounted the public nature of the trial and argued that the case should’ve been tried outside of Minneapolis. He further contended that Chauvin did not receive a fair trial.

Chauvin’s attorney believes that there was not a fair case due to the civil unrest that was caused after the murder.

Associated Press further reported

“The primary issue on this appeal is whether a criminal defendant can get a fair trial consistent with constitutional requirements in a courthouse surrounded by concrete block, barbed wire, two armored personnel carriers, and a squad of National Guard troops, all of which or whom are there for one purpose: in the event that the jury acquits the defendant,” Mohrman told a Minnesota Court of Appeals panel

Chauvin apprehended George Floyd for suspected use of a counterfeit bill. The tensions rose and Derek ended up murdering George Floyd.

The Washington Examiner continued to report

Neal Katyal, a special attorney for the state, countered that Chauvin got “one of the most transparent and thorough trials in our nation’s history” and shrugged off Mohrman’s arguments, claiming they fell short of justifying an overturning of his conviction.

Chauvin was sentenced to 22 1/2 years behind bars after being found guilty of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter, and third-degree murder charges. Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill presided over the state trial.

Judge Cahill managed this trial with enormous care, and even if Chauvin could identify some minor fault, any error is harmless,” Katyal argued, per the Associated Press. “The evidence of Chauvin’s guilt was captured on video for the world to see.”

The development of this story is still going on and there will be updates through the coming days and weeks of how this will turn out.

The mainstream media will sure run with this and we will see what happens.

  1. As a short story writer, I am deeply saddened and frustrated to hear about Derek Chauvin’s announcement to appeal his murder conviction against George Floyd. The murder of George Floyd was a tragic and senseless act that sparked civil unrest and sparked a nationwide conversation about police brutality and racism. To hear that Chauvin is now trying to overturn his conviction is a slap in the face to the memory of George Floyd and his family, and to all those who have been affected by his death. It is a reminder that the fight for justice is ongoing and that we must remain vigilant in our efforts to ensure that those who commit such heinous crimes are held accountable for their actions.

    1. Floyd was a convicted felon who died from ingesting drugs when he was arrested for breaking the law. You fight the law, they always win. Don’t do drugs.
