Bombshell: GOP Sen. Rand Paul Argues That Donald Trump’s Indictment Is A “Disgusting Abuse Of Power” And Claiims DA “Should Be Put In Jail”

WASHINGTON, DC – FEBRUARY 16: U.S. President Donald Trump, right, acknowledges US Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), left, prior to signing H.J. Res. 38, disapproving the rule submitted by the US Department of the Interior known as the Stream Protection Rule in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on February 16, 2017 in Washington, DC. The Department of Interior’s Stream Protection Rule, which was signed during the final month of the Obama administration, “addresses the impacts of surface coal mining operations on surface water, groundwater, and the productivity of mining operation sites,” according to the Congress.gov summary of the resolution. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky spoke out on Tuesday against the potential indictment of former President Donald Trump. He suggested that it would be an “abuse of power” and that the Manhattan district attorney should be “put in jail.”

“A Trump indictment would be a disgusting abuse of power. The DA should be put in jail,” Paul wrote in a tweet.

His comets come amid a legal battle between Trump and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is reportedly planning to indict Trump.

The potential charges reportedly stem from a $130,000 hush-money payment that former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen made to adult film star Stormy Daniels. The payment was made in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election in exchange for her silence on the matter of an alleged sexual encounter with Trump in 2006.

Monday night, Trump shared a video to Truth Social, and he called the “four horrible, radical, left Democratic investigations of your all-time favorite president” an extension of the “most disgusting witch hunt in the history of our country.”

“It’s gone on forever with Russia, Russia, Russia; Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine and the Mueller hoax,” Trump said, referencing the investigation of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who investigated his campaign for potential collusion with Russia during the same campaign. “It’s an absolute disgrace, what’s going on.”

Trump added: “Remember this, with all of this work that they did on Mueller, no collusion. That’s what the answer was. It was all no collusion.”

Trump also referred to the Mar-A-Lago raid, where the FBI found classified materials and a congressional investigation that ultimately found Trump guilty of inciting and influencing the Capitol protest on January 6, 2021. He also referred to a phone call he had while serving in the White House very shortly after Election Day with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in 2020. He said the call was “absolutely perfect.” He also referred to the ongoing Stormy Daniels litigation, which Trump said was an “extortion plot.”

He called these investigations “fake news” and maintained his innocence.

Whether Trump will be indicted or not lies in the hands of the Manhattan grand jury, which has been meeting for weeks now. Trump said last weekend that reports suggested he would be arrested over a potential indictment.

Trump continues to deny any wrongdoing and has criticized the Manhattan district attorney’s investigation as politically motivated.

On Saturday morning, Trump posted about the possible indictment on Truth Social, indicating that he will be “ARRESTED ON TUESDAY.”
“NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, WHICH HAS ALLOWED NEW RECORDS TO BE SET IN VIOLENT CRIME & WHOSE LEADER IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, WITH NO CRIME BEING ABLE TO BE PROVEN, & BASED ON AN OLD & FULLY DEBUNKED (BY NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) FAIRYTALE, THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!,” Trump wrote.
