BLM CONSEQUENSES: Two dead, multiple injured after Arizona man opens fire on police, firefighters and medics

Two people are dead and a number of people were injured during a shooting that took place on Sunday in Tucson, Arizona. The shooting took place at three separate locations with a 35-year-old man as the main suspect.

The Tucson Fire Department was responding to a house fire in a local neighborhood on Sunday afternoon while paramedics were responding to a medical emergency at Quincie Douglas Park. The gunman then got out of his SUV, waved the EMS vehicle down, then opened fire on both the driver and passenger. The driver, a 20-year-old male is in “extremely” critical condition after being shot in the head. The passenger, a 21-year-old woman is in stable condition after being shot in the chest and arm.

“We can confirm that two American Medical Response (AMR) caregivers were shot as they were posting for an emergency call in Tucson, Arizona, yesterday,” according to a statement from a spokesperson for AMR. “At this time, we are not releasing their names. We are praying for all involved in this terrible incident. We continue working with local law enforcement to determine the details around the situation,” according to a statement from a spokesperson for AMR.

The gunman then drove to the house fire and started shooting at both the neighbors and Tuscon firefighters on the scene who were trying to quell the flames. One neighbor died after being shot in the head while another neighbor was grazed by a bullet. A firefighter was shot in the arm but was released from the hospital and is in good condition, according to a tweet from the Tucson Fire Department.

Firefighters who were on the scene called the Tuscon Police once the gunman opened fire. Once an officer arrived on the scene, the gunman and officer exchanged gunfire. The gunman was injured and is in critical condition. The officer wasn’t injured during the exchange. It was reported that three children were missing, but they were located, according to Tuscon Police Sergeant Richard Gradillas.

Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus issued a statement regarding both a “badly burned” body being found in the house fire and the shooting. “This is a highly tragic, really horrific incident with many unknowns,” Magnus said Sunday night. “The investigation will be lengthy and complex.”

“I ask our entire Tucson community to join me in thinking about and praying for the victims of this afternoon’s fire and shooting by Silverlake Park, including first responders from AMR and the Tucson Fire Department. This was a horrific and senseless act of violence,” Tucson Mayor Regina Romero said in a statement on Monday [MSN].
