A law enforcement source told KTVU that the getaway car used in the assault was “the same one used in several vehicle break-ins in this area and in other parts of Oakland during a half-hour span prior to the attack on the former senator.”
Barbara Boxer, who is currently 80, served in the U.S. Senate from 1993 to 2017. She was succeeded by Kamala Harris in 2017 and chose to retire after the 2017 election.
This attack comes as crime in major democrat lead cities across the country is rising everyday. The Bay Area, which includes Oakland and San Francisco, has experienced a surge of violent crime in recent months. Many citizens blame the democratic city council’s ongoing efforts to defund the police department for the surge in crime.
Oakland Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong has previously described crime in the city as “out of control”
President Trump reacted to this incident today in his newsletter stating “Former California Senator Barbara Boxer was savagely assaulted and robbed yesterday in Oakland, where they defunded the police…We must give power back to police or America will never be safe. We cannot let Communist Democrats destroy our great cities.”
