The U.S. military finally shot down the Chinese spy balloon on Saturday afternoon.

In response, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that it “strongly disapproves of and protests” the decision by the Biden administration to take down the Chinese spy balloon that had entered U.S. airspace a few days ago.

Furthermore, the Chinese Foreign Ministry threatened that they would be taking unspecified actions against the U.S. in retaliation.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said:

“China strongly disapproves of and protests against the U.S. attack on a civilian unmanned airship by force. The Chinese side has, after verification, repeatedly informed the U.S. side of the civilian nature of the airship and conveyed that its entry into the U.S. due to force majeure was totally unexpected.”

It added:

“The Chinese side has clearly asked the U.S. side to properly handle the matter in a calm, professional, and restrained manner. The spokesperson of the U.S. Department of Defense also noted that the balloon does not present a military or physical threat to people on the ground.”

The Foreign Ministry continued:

“Under such circumstances, the U.S. use of force is a clear overreaction and a serious violation of international practice. China will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the company concerned and reserves the right to make further responses if necessary.”

China’s severe response came just a day after they warned the U.S. not to take any drastic action concerning the Chinese surveillance balloon.

China also claimed that the U.S. mainstream media and the politicians only “hyped up” the matter to “attack and smear China.”
