Joy Reid is trending again and this time it’s not because of one of her outrageous comments.

Her prime-time show, The ReidOut, is plummeting in ratings. The show made its debut in July 2020 to a massive audience.

It set a network record with 2.6 million viewers tuning in to watch the MSNBC 7 p.m. show. Reid beat out Martha MacCallum’s Fox show by 23% and Erin Burnett’s CNN show by 99%.

As of late, her show doesn’t even make the top 5 most popular on the network! And that’s with a primetime slot!

Consequently, rumors are circulating that Joy Reid’s show is on the chopping block.

According to Fox News, “ReidOut” averaged 1.1 million viewers during the news-heavy month, a 31% decline from April of last year. She also shed 11% of viewers who tuned in last month and a staggering 51% compared to the show’s debut month of July 2020.”

The show also lost 57% of the total audience among the coveted demographic of adults between the ages of 25 and 54 since its primetime debut in July 2020. It finished April with a dismal demo average of fewer than 125,000 viewers.

It was MSNBC’s least-watched month during the weeknight 7 p.m. slot among the critical demo going all the way back to July 2015.

It’s not so surprising that media reporter Jon Nicosia claims that “there is serious talk all the way up the chain at Comcast about Joy Reid’s future at MSNBC.”

Many of us are not at all surprised. The ReidOut host turns everything into something about race.

Most recently, she added her take on Hershel Walker, the Republican candidate for one of Georgia’s senate seats. He is running against the incumbent, Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock.

She said that Walker is the “perfect black candidate.” Reid claims that he’ll comply with “a white Christian Nationalist agenda” because “he’ll never think through an alternative agenda.”

And who can forget her outlandish take that DeSantis’s warning to looters in Hurricane Ian’s aftermath is like a racist threat from a ‘segregationist’?

He said, “The other thing that we’re concerned about, particularly in those areas that were really hard hit, is, you know, we want to make sure we’re maintaining law and order.” Talking directly to would-be looters, he said, “Don’t even think about looting. Don’t even think about taking advantage of people in this vulnerable situation.”

Reid responded by tweeting, “’When the looting starts, the shooting starts.’—segregationist Miami sheriff Walter E. Headley, 1967.”

“What is racist about warning people not to take things that don’t belong to them?” asked Jeremy Redfern, deputy press secretary for the governor. “Be specific.”

Unfortunately, Reid isn’t learning anything at all from her plummeting ratings. She continues to make abhorrent remarks about everyone from Trump to Kyle Rittenhouse.

We’ll be watching to see where she takes her platform if her MSNBC show ends up getting the ax.
