MSNBC host Joy Reid has had some hot takes on her show, “The Reid Out,” over the past couple of years.
She’s not afraid to voice her outrageous views. She has suggested that President-elect Biden name a Supreme Court nominee for the open seat left by Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She’s compared Floridians evacuating ahead of Hurricane Ian to the illegal migrants flooding the US border.
She’s even called Governor DeSantis a racist for warning would-be looters that they may get shot. Are all looters people of color, Joy Reid? Who is the racist here?
It looks like people are getting tired of her far-left talking points. Rumors are flying that she may be on her way out at MSNBC.
Her ratings have continued to plummet since her show debuted in the summer of 2020, barely breaking one million viewers as of late.
Her first show on July 20, 2020, had a network record-setting 2.6 million viewers. It was the most-watched show in the 7 p.m. ET time slot on its debut for MSNBC.
Reid’s show beat out the Fox News competitor at the time, Martha MacCallum’s The Story, by 23% and Erin Burnett Outfront on CNN by 99%.
Since then, her ratings have bottomed out in total views as well as in the coveted 25-54 demo, losing 57% of that demographic. Even with her primetime spot, Reid’s show isn’t even in the top 5 of the network’s most popular shows.
Jon Nicosia, president of News Cycle Media, says that sources from Comcast have claimed that Reid is losing her show.
“Joy Reid will lose her 7 p.m. show in the next round of reshuffling at MSNBC,” the source at Comcast told Nicosia. “She does not have a show come mid-Spring,” Nicosia reported at the time, adding that the “decision has been made.”
“The only thing left is messaging on the move, which will be ratings,” the source said. Since the ratings have continued to drop, it seems like the move is inevitable.
Fox News’s Greg Gutfeld responded, “There goes a third of my material. First Chris Cuomo, now Joy Reid…. if I lose Don Lemon, I may have to report on actual stories!!” Gutfeld joked.
Gutfeld has also jokingly implied that MSNBC is afraid to fire Reid. “Joy Reid has built a foolproof career insurance plan,” said Gutfeld.
“She has Fake News MSNBC so terrified, that they can’t fire her because she’s just gonna call them racist, too. She calls everybody racist, and that’s her game, and that’s her scam. And the Fake News MSNBC management is cowards for letting her do this but, that’s what they chose to do.”
Joy Reid’s crazy ramblings have become material for shows like Greg Gutfeld’s and Dan Bongino’s but her endless outrage and insane takes have gotten to the point where even the most fervent Democrat is tuning out.
