Five Republicans were subpoenaed by the January 6 select committee and House Republicans are furious. They are even discussing their own plans to investigate Pelosi and other Democrats if they win back the majority in November.
The men who received the subpoenas were:
House minority leader, Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan of Ohio, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, Andy Biggs of Arizona, and Mo Brooks of Alabama.
In February, after the Jan 6 events, a group of Republicans sent Pelosi a letter asking why she didn’t do more to protect the Capitol.
She never responded, but instead, had her hand-picked committee issue subpoenas to the Republican lawmakers.
Bennie Thompson, the select committee chairman said, “Before we hold our hearings next month, we wished to provide members the opportunity to discuss these matters with the committee voluntarily. Regrettably, the individuals receiving subpoenas today have refused and we’re forced to take this step to help ensure the committee uncovers facts concerning January 6th.”
The group of lawmakers refused to provide voluntary assistance in the investigations.
House Republicans, furious that five of their own have been subpoenaed by the January 6 select committee, are discussing their own plans to retaliate if they win back the majority: Issuing subpoenas to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats.
Several rank-and-file Republicans, likely committee chairmen and members of the party leadership told CNN on Friday that the January 6 panel’s subpoenas to House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and four other Republicans create a new standard they may ultimately choose to replicate in a potential GOP majority next Congress.
At the top of the list: Pelosi, whom Republicans say they plan to target over her communications regarding security matters in the run-up to January 6 and as the riot was unfolding in the Capitol.
“I’m gonna tell you the truth: Yes, I do,” said Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) when asked if he believes Republicans should issue a subpoena to Pelosi.
“This is setting the precedent, and we’re just not gonna lie down and let this happen. There are serious questions about her role on January 6 and exactly what she did and what she didn’t do. And we need to get to the bottom of that,” he added.
The Raging Patriot reported back in June:
Republican Representative from Ohio, Jim Jordan, is calling for an investigation of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. To find out her role in the events that occurred on January 6 at the Capitol.
Jordan told Tucker Carlson in 2021, “The fundamental question is why wasn’t there a proper security posture that day? It wasn’t like we didn’t know there was a rally in town. It wasn’t like we didn’t know it would be a big rally, after all, it was a President Trump rally.”
“Why wasn’t there a proper security presence? That is a question that only the speakers roof the United States House of Representatives can answer.”
“My guess is the reason she didn’t have the proper presence there is because–think about what happened last year. The Democrats normalized anarchy.”
