When the Niners won the Super Bowl in 2013, Kaepernick congratulated Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, who was also his coach at the time. Colin Kaepernick, the former quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, met with head coach Jim Harbaugh at Michigan’s spring game on Saturday, where he was invited to participate in a throwing tryout for NFL scouts, an event he hopes would help him land a “starting position.”

After the halftime show, Kaepernick told WXYZ Detroit that he “definitely” still has what it takes to play in the NFL and that he expects Saturday’s performance would lead to additional discussions with clubs.

“The whole point of coming out here for the exhibition was to prove that I can do it.” It’s one of the questions that kept coming up for my agency. ‘Can he still play now that it’s been five years?’ According to Kaepernick. “So we want to make sure that we come out and demonstrate that I can still play, still throw it, and that we’re looking for a way to go back in there, win a starting position, and lead a team to a championship.”

“I can help you become a better team, and I can help you win games,” Kaepernick remarked to the scouts in attendance. “I’m aware that the current scenario will most likely prevent me from stepping into a starting role. I’m certain that I’ll be able to get there and demonstrate it shortly.” So, first and foremost, I’d want to invite any teams with questions to come in for a workout. I’d love to sit down with you and discuss how I may assist you in becoming a better team.”

Kaepernick retired from the NFL in 2016, the same year he began kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial inequality. He spoke with the Seattle Seahawks lately, but head coach Pete Carroll wouldn’t say last month if there was a spot on the squad for him. According to, during a 15-minute halftime session with draft-eligible players, the quarterback did a variety of throwing exercises.

He thanked Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, with whom he played in the 2013 Super Bowl with the Niners. “Coach Harbaugh has always been wonderful for me — from the moment we met at the combine, to my pro day, to him picking me and starting me – and our connection [has] continued to grow and evolve from there.”

Since the 2016 season, Kaepernick has been out of the NFL. Colin Kaepernick has been working out in the hopes of returning to the NFL, and he says he’s had “conversations” with Seattle Seahawks brass about a tryout on Wednesday. This week, Kaepernick worked out with Seahawks wide receiver Aaron Fuller, and last week, he worked out with Tyler Lockett. He spoke with coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider, according to the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who previously led the franchise to a Super Bowl victory.

“I’m still waiting for that opportunity. Still optimistic, “According to The Seattle Times, he stated. “There has been a lot of discussion about it. We’ve had past chats with Pete and John. As Pete indicated, we’ve recently spoken, and (I’m) still hopeful the door will be open and that I’ll be able to step through it.” He has shared exercise videos on social media. Even though he’s 34 years old and hasn’t played in the NFL since the 2016 season, he insists he hasn’t missed a beat. All he needs is a chance.

“Bringing me in for a workout is the best way to tell,” he remarked. “We don’t have any expectations for how the teams will do. But all we want is the chance to step in the door and show them what I’m capable of, and I believe my skills and skill set will speak for itself.”

On Tuesday, Kaepernick’s personal trainer, David Robinson, told TMZ Sports that roughly five organizations had approached him about the quarterback. He informed the newspaper that “a couple clubs have reached out to me and inquired how his arm looks.” “They’ve contacted me and inquired about him.”

Robinson didn’t say which teams but added that he told the representatives he believes Kaepernick could be on an NFL roster if the team chose to go that route. He remarked, “He clearly has the capacity to play on someone’s squad right now.”

“For example, a number of the men in the session who work for NFL organizations said that his arm is just as powerful as the guys we have on our roster right now and that he can play.” Given the Seahawks’ previous flirting with Kaepernick and their transfer of Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, which leaves the door open for a new starting for the 2022 season, they look to be a possible landing point.
