Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy is seeking for the impeachment of the Biden administration official in charge of border security. Rep. Roy told his Republican colleagues in the House that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had “engaged in the willful abandoning of the laws of the United States” in a letter.

“While the world’s attention has been directed toward Ukraine, the border of the United States is more dangerous, broken, and unsecure than ever. It demands our immediate attention and collective call for the impeachment of the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas,” he stated.

Claiming that the secretary was “following President Biden’s directions or acting on his own – he has launched on the willful abandoning of US laws and the previous administration’s effective efforts to safeguard our borders and protect our people.”

Mayorkas’ intentions, he claimed, “have resulted in the death and endangering of Americans, damage to property and communities across the border, loss of operational control of our border to dangerous cartels imprisoning thousands of migrants sold into human trafficking, and the fueling of deadly drug poisonings of thousands of Americans.”

“It is most clearly a ‘serious felony or misdemeanor’ for a public officer to purposely imperil Americans while wilfully breaking one’s oath to implement our laws,” he claimed. “Impeaching Secretary Mayorkas is our responsibility,” he told his colleagues.

“Despite Democratic control of the House, we should call for it immediately and make the argument for immediate border security better than any speeches or measures we can offer.” A leaked video from January revealed a heated discussion between the chief of the US Border Patrol and some of his officers during Mayorkas’ visit to the Laredo, Texas, border sector.

The footage, acquired by Fox News, shows Border Patrol commander Raul Ortiz exchanging harsh words with agents as Mayorkas allegedly stood nearby. Ortiz stated during the discussion that “morale is at an all-time low,” according to the network. “I believe we’re losing too many agents,” Ortiz remarked. “As a group, we need to start looking out for one another.”

During the interaction with the DHS secretary being present, he acknowledged the officers’ displeasure, as record numbers of migrants have entered illegally into the United States since President Joe Biden took office and reversed much of previous President Donald Trump’s border enforcement efforts.

“I understand,” Ortiz remarked. “When you get at work, you’re frustrated. You’re disappointed because you didn’t obtain the expected result. That doesn’t imply you’re giving up.” “We’re not,” one agent said.

“I know you’re not,” Ortiz remarked. “That’s why I’m saying, we don’t give up. We stay focused, we continue to do the job and the mission that we signed up for. We all signed up for it, we all raised our hand.”

However, the scene became increasingly tense, and harsh words were exchanged. “It’s difficult to say that when…” one agent started. “It’s not difficult to say,” Ortiz said, as shown in the video. “It may be difficult for you to believe, but I’ve been doing this for 31 years.” It’s not difficult for me to say.”

“You keep allowing criminal aliens into the nation,” other agents said. “You’re getting caught down in policy and politics,” Ortiz said. However, numerous agents later stated that they are not even permitted to use the term “illegal immigrants.” “You just stated it,” Ortiz remarked in response. “Nothin”s going to happen to you.”

However, the answers they were receiving did not satisfy the agents, prompting Ortiz to remark, “Why are you guys getting caught up in semantics?… “I’ve been doing this job for as long as you have.” “That’s the issue, chief,” one agent said. “To allow evil to win is to allow decent men to do nothing.”

That’s exactly what’s going on here. Nothing is being done by good folks. You’re enabling illegal immigrants to be dropped off in neighborhoods.” The USBP leader then argued that his agents were doing good for the country by rescuing refugees and apprehending criminals bringing hazardous substances into the country, such as fentanyl.

“And under this government, we’ve seen the most fentanyl deaths in our country’s history in the last year,” one individual in the group said. When another agent asked how much fentanyl was going through, Ortiz said, “I don’t know.” We’re looking into it.” “And that’s the problem,” added another agent before someone offered a joke to defuse the situation, according to Fox News.
