President Vladimir Putin spoke on Saturday saying Western sanctions against Russia amounted to a declaration of war, and that any effort to enforce a no-fly zone over Ukraine would have disastrous repercussions for the rest of the world.

Putin underlined his goal of defending Russian-speaking people by “demilitarizing and de-Nazifying” the Ukrainian state so that Russia’s former Soviet neighbor remained neutral and no longer endangered Russia.

Ukraine and Western nations have regarded this as a flimsy excuse for his February 24 invasion and have levied a slew of sanctions aimed at alienating Moscow.

“These sanctions are comparable to a declaration of war, but thank God it hasn’t come to that,” Putin remarked to a group of Aeroflot flight attendants at a training center in Moscow.

He stated that any effort by another force to establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine would be viewed as a step toward armed confrontation by Russia.

He claimed that such a measure would be disastrous for Europe and the rest of the globe. The NATO military alliance has rejected Kiev’s request for a no-fly zone, arguing that it would extend the crisis beyond Ukraine and perhaps put the US against Russia.

When asked about allegations of Russian conscripts being employed in Ukraine, Putin stated none had been utilized and that the military action was proceeding as planned.

“There isn’t a single conscript, and we don’t intend to have any,” Putin remarked. “Our troops will complete all tasks. I have no doubts about that. Everything is proceeding according to plan.” This depiction contradicted official assessments from the United States and the United Kingdom.

According to British military intelligence, Russia’s push on the Ukrainian capital has made little progress and has met stiff opposition.

Putin downplayed fears that Russia will be proclaimed to be under martial law or in an emergency scenario. He stated that such a step would be implemented only when there was a major internal or foreign threat.

“We have no plans to impose any form of special rule on Russian territory at this time,” Putin stated. Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesperson, claimed that the West was acting like a robber by severing economic ties over the Ukraine war, but that Russia was much too huge to be isolated since the globe was far wider than simply the United States and Europe.
