You know when something is really bad when members of your own party start publicly criticizing you.
Democrat West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin recently said “Washington sucks.” and many retiring Democrat congress members are reaching the same conclusion.
Wisconsin Democrat Congressman, Rep. Ron Kind who announced earlier that he won’t be seeking re-election told Politico “Let’s face it, the atmosphere in this place — it’s a hostile work environment. We’ve got members threatening to kill other members and treating each other with such disrespect. …Things seem to be getting worse.”
Ahead of the 2022 mid-term elections, 18 Democrats have officially announced retirement and the number is likely to increase by the end of this year. This means, Republicans only need to again net five seats to get into the majority in the House of Representatives.
Many of these retiring Democrat members have words for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and her leadership.
House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair and Democrat New York Congressman Rep. Greg Meeks told Politico that being in Congress, “especially” with a weak majority wherein Pelosi can not lose more than a handful of votes to pass her partisan agenda items, is “hard.” “I’m a new chair. But I can tell you it’s hard, especially when you have smaller margins, trying to get things done… The climate here has changed.”
Democrat Oregon Congressman Rep. Kurt Schrader said “If you’ve been here a long time, it gets old after a while — Especially with redistricting and the likelihood of us potentially losing the majority, a lot of folks … are looking at this as the high-water mark”
Experts are predicting that more Democrats will be stepping down in the months leading up to the midterm elections. Some even predict that Nancy Pelosi herself will not seek re-election in 2022.
As Biden’s approval ratings continue to drop every day, Congressional Democrats are also seeing their polling numbers decline along the way. Every day Americans are slowly realizing the bad effects of Democrat policies.
