It was reported earlier today by The Daily Wire that, “President Joe Biden struggled to unite his party on Friday during a meeting with Democrat Members of Congress in Washington, D.C., over the massive social spending bill that the party is trying to ram through Congress.
Biden reportedly made it clear that the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill and the infrastructure bill were linked together and that Democrats needed to reduce the $3.5 trillion price tag by almost half for it to have a chance of passing through reconciliation, which would allow the Senate to pass it with only 51 votes.
Fox News White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich tweeted that “One source describes Biden visit as a nothing burger – meeting with the highest of expectations and the lowest of results,” Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich said. “POTUS made no ask for a vote tonight, said it’s not going to happen until there’s a reconciliation agreement.”
According to Breitbart, Politico reporter Sarah Ferris tweeted, “INSIDE the caucus: At the end of his remarks, BIDEN offered to take questions from members but his staff jumped in. He didn’t take any questions.”
Breitbart further reported that “Sources told Ferris and a second Politico reporter, Heather Caygle, that Biden discussed a topline range between $1.9 trillion and $2.3 trillion in spending.
“Even a smaller bill can make historic investments,” the president reportedly told Democrats, saying that the infrastructure bill “ain’t going to happen until we reach an agreement on the next piece of legislation.” “Let’s try to figure out what we are for in reconciliation and then we can move ahead,” he then added.
This “nothing burger” seems to be served to the American public on an all too regular basis and it might be said, with not too much of a stretch, that we’re all choking on it and ready to vomit.
