MUST WATCH: Justice Clarence Thomas Warns Against “Destroying Our Institutions”

Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas warned on Thursday spoke about what divides people, pointing to the media specifically, during an address at Notre Dame University. He mentioned that we are “destroying our institutions”

“The country has gotten to the point where we’re really good at finding something that separates us,” Justice Thomas said. “I think the media makes it sound as though you are just always going right to your personal preference. So if they think you are anti-abortion or something personally, they think that’s the way you always will come out. They think you’re for this or for that. They think you become like a politician.”

As reported by the Washington Post, this strong response came in as a student asked the justice if legal questions he considers ever come into conflict with his Catholic faith.

“I don’t do a lot of hand-wringing in my opinions and tell people, ‘Oh, I’m really sad.’ That’s not the role of a judge,” he added. “You do your job, and you go cry alone.”

Quoting his grandfather, he said “After you’ve done that, and now what? What’s your next step?”

The Supreme Court is set to return in-person arguments next month which will be the first time in a full year. Justices will be hearing a case on Mississippi’s ban of abortion after 15 weeks.

It will be really interesting to see the court arguments on this case now that we have a conservative majority in the Supreme Court.
