Despite Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s noble attempts to frame it in another light, Americans were stranded and trapped in Afghanistan. The Biden Administration failed its people miserably in the debacle of the Afghanistan withdrawal that they deemed to be a “success.”
In particular, one family, who are US citizens, were left in the country with no way to get out. A mother and her four children were desperate for a way home.
So, Representatives Markwayne Mullin (OK), Seth Moulton (MA) and Peter Meijer (MI) left for the region to find the a way home. And the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, does not approve one bit.
Originally, the three went to Greece and sought the assistance of the Departments of Defense and State to get into the country to help extricate Americans.
Calling the request a “public relations stunt,” both entities shot down the request. They further stated that the three men were draining government resources during a national security crisis.
So, Mullin made a second attempt to assist.
This time, he was attempting to bring enough cash into Tajikistan to hire a helicopter and go get that family and bring them home. However, the US diplomat to the country denied requests to assist Mullin’s team in getting the large amount of cash into the country, saying that it would violate the law of their host nation.
But, Mullin was not to be deterred, finding a way to work on assisting Americans trying to flee the region.
Multiple news agencies reported that Mullin had gone missing in Afghanistan. But the Congressman posted a picture on Instagram Wednesday that said, “I am coming home.”
Further explaining what has been going on, he wrote:
“Have we been helping get Americans out of Afghanistan, yes. Is the mission continuing, yes. Am I missing, no. Did I go dark for a little, yes because it wasn’t safe to be communicating. Am I extremely disappointed in how we (United States) left Americans behind… that would be an understatement. President Biden and his administration are absolutely lying to the American people about Americans and our friends being left behind.
So many great Americans, many who are Veterans and many who are not, are stepping up to keep our promise….. We will never leave an American behind.”
Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has stated that after the military left the country, fewer that 200 Americans remained in the country, but they were still trying to find ways to get them out.
Sadly Tony, even one left behind is too many.
Nancy Pelosi spoke to the press about the action of Mullin and his team.
“There is a real concern about members being in the region,” she said.
Speaking about the resources needed from the military to escort elected officials in the region, she also added, “This is deadly serious. We do not want members to go.”
So wait, it would be necessary for members of the US military to protect the Congressman while he was over there, but regular Americans in the region were not all offered the same protection?
Given that the government was able to protect and relocate more than 100,000 Afghanis in just a few days, for a few hundred Americans, the answer is: apparently, yes.
