SCIENCE DOES NOT SUPPORT DEM INSANITY: Oregon Governor reinstates outdoor mask mandate amid surging COVID-19 cases

Oregon Governor Kate Brown reinstated an outdoor mask mandate after a spike in COVID-19 cases, allegedly a result of the delta variant.

The policy will be implemented beginning Friday, August 27th, and applies to all residents regardless of vaccination status. The Governor’s press release goes on to suggest, “The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) also strongly recommends masking for outdoor gatherings at private residences when individuals from different households do not consistently maintain physical distance.”

Schools will also be impacted by Governor Brown’s policies, thereby mandating masks in K-12 schools. Regarding this controversial policy, Brown said, “The science and data are clear: the Delta variant is in our communities, and it is more contagious. My priority is to ensure our kids are able to safely return to full-time in-person learning this fall, five days per week and with minimal disruptions.”

As of August 25th, the state department of health reports that 72 percent of the Oregon population is vaccinated. Compared to July, cases in Oregon are on the rise, however, they are low compared to peak cases and fatalities during the height of the pandemic.
