On Tuesday, CNN host Brian Stelter appeared on Stephen Colbert’s late-night show The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to defend CNN and his co-host, Chris Cuomo, following sexual assault allegations against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The CBS show experience a record decrease in its already falling viewership.
Brian Stelter’s segment was the least-watched segment of the night on CBS and many in the mainstream media still can’t believe this.
Stelter talked about his co-host Chris Cuomo being part of this investigation and defended several ethics concerns that CNN is being a part of by still keeping Cuomo’s show on the air. “The craziest set of circumstances that you can imagine, right? A governor and a brother, both in these high-profile jobs. This is definitely awkward for CNN, though” Stelter said during this segment.
This is not the first time that Brian Stelter’s appearance has impacted ratings of a major TV show. Recently, on a C-Span appearance, Brian Stelter attracted many critics who called and roasted Stelter on air.
His CNN show is regularly breaking its records for having the lowest ratings every week. One time when Brian was on a vacation, John Avlon filled in as a guest host on Brian’s show and got better ratings in that time slot.
