Sometimes articles just seem to write themselves and the fortunate writer feels as if all of his birthdays have come at once. That is certainly the case in the aftermath of VP Kamala Harris’ most recent comment in mosaic of self-pity.
Harris, who seems fantastically ignorant how the mainstream media operates, bemoaned the fact that the media has offered Americans a “sound-bite” version of her that doesn’t speak to her “depth and thought”.
As she said in an interview to The Atlantic reporter Peter Nicholas, “Part of my frustration is the way that this system rewards sound-bites” as opposed to “depth and thought,”. However, a rather intriguing idiosyncrasy appears as, while distaining the universally media-approved delivery of the sound-bite, Harris turns around to print catchy phrases on campaign t-shirts. As Nicholas himself commented that, “… When she challenged Biden over busing at the first debate, she spoke of a California schoolgirl who was part of a newly integrated class. “And that little girl was me,” she said. Soon afterward, her campaign started selling $29.99 T-shirts emblazoned with the phrase.”.”
When Nicholas asked her the admirable probing question of weather she regretted her pre-veep comments about Biden on the question of race, Harris sealed herself in a cocoon of evasion, saying that, “There is no sunlight or daylight between he and I on the issue of race, on the history of racism in our country, and also what we need to do going forward to fight for equity-based on race, gender, and everything else,”.
These comments, which have a unique blend of self-pity and self-adulation, come son the aftermath of a recent poll that has shown that Harris is the least popular vice-president in modern American history. Harris seems to be on sauntering merrily down the oft-beaten path of the perpetual victim by blaming her lack of popularity on an unfair or perhaps even biased coverage on the part of the media. While, of course, that could never be the case, it should be asked if the reason for her unpopularity could simply be because Harris is only grazing the lower slopes of her own ignorance by making excuses rather than accepting her responsibilities and getting on with the business of running the country.
