Dr.Fauci Wants Americans To Not See Family Members During Christmas

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, has announced this week that his wife and him will not be seeing his three adult children for Christmas due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and encouraged others to do the same.

Dr. Fauci told The Washington Post that while the decision is ‘painful’ it’s also “just one of the things you’re going to have to accept as we go through this unprecedented challenging time.”

“Stay at home as much as you can, keep your interactions to the extent possible to members of the same household,” Fauci stated. “This cannot be business as usual this Christmas because we’re already in a very difficult situation, and we’re going to make it worse, if we don’t do something about it.”

Fauci said that qualifying the pandemic is “an unusual situation” and is “not going to last forever.”

“It is highly likely that with vaccines being distributed, that we will be back to normal by next Christmas,” Fauci said.

According to The Washington Post coverage of Dr. Fauci’s recommendation…

“COVID-19 case counts have dramatically surged in recent months. That’s especially true in the past week when an average of 211,629 cases was reported per day. Average daily death counts are also up, hitting a devastating total of 300,000 dead on Monday. Hospitalizations for coronavirus have surged, putting ICUs across the country at close to or over capacity.”
