Dr. Fauci Wants to Cancel Thanksgiving

Americans got to know Dr. Fauci when he became one of the immunologists to serve on the White House Coronavirus Task Force. The holiday season is nearly here and he and Dr. Birx, also from the same task force, say that holidays are going to look different this year. We are aware doctors, 2020 holidays have already been “looking different”. Dr. Fauci went so far to say that Thanksgiving family gatherings should be canceled. He said, “You may have to bite the bullet and sacrifice that social gathering, unless you’re pretty certain that the people you’re dealing with are not infected.”

He said this to CBS News anchor Norah O’Donnell. He continued on, “That is unfortunately a risk, when you have people coming from out of town, gathering together in an indoor setting. It is unfortunate, because that’s such a sacred part of American tradition – the family gathering around Thanksgiving. But that is a risk.”

He’s urging Americans that covid is still a risk and that because of the new infections, people should not gather with their families for the holidays. He blamed the new cases on people not wearing masks, social distancing, or washing their hands. But Dr. Fauci has been caught not doing these things either. After throwing a failed first pitch at a baseball game, photos of him sitting in the stands with two people on either side of him, none of them wearing masks, quickly flooded social media.

He expressed worry for older family members and those with pre-existing conditions, saying that even his own children won’t be coming home for the holidays because of how old their dad is. He stressed that Americans should be “prudent about social gatherings” and suggested that any family gatherings and traditions be put on hold this year. He’s worried that family holiday gatherings will only make the spread of the virus worse.

After months and months of not being able to see their family members, Americans are looking forward to the holiday season and spending time with family and friends. To take that away and suggest that Americans not be with their families after a very trying year in many ways for every citizen is cruel. Hundreds of families have already lost family members due to the virus, but also due to increased domestic violence, suicides, mental health issues, and addiction. Maybe if those people had had family with them, they would still be here.

2020 has already taken so much from America, don’t let it take the holidays too. If you are worried about the virus and family members and would rather not travel, then don’t travel. If you’re not worried about it, then travel and have your family over. That should be your choice. We still live in America – the land of the free – don’t we?
