White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and Former Governor Chris Christie Have Tested Positive for COVID-19

Kayleigh McEnany released an official written statement to social media this morning stating that she has tested positive for covid-19. After a series of negative tests she tested positive Monday morning and says she will now begin the quarantine process and will continue working from home.

She said she hasn’t been experiencing any symptoms and that no other reporters, producers, or members of the press have been listed as close contacts from the White House Medical Unit. She continued to say that she “had no knowledge of Hope Hicks’ diagnosis prior to holding a White House press briefing on Thursday.”

Former Governor Chris Christie has also tested positive and a few hours later admitted himself to Morristown Medical Center as a precaution. He tweeted, “While I am feeling good and only have mild symptoms, due to my history of asthma we decided this is an important precautionary measure.” According to the CDC, asthma and obesity are risk factors for the virus, both of which Christie has.

Christie said he has been with President Trump for several days last week to help him prepare for the future debates against Joe Biden. He said he had had several negative tests, but decided to be tested again following President Trump’s positive diagnosis of coronavirus.

On September 26, The White House held a ceremony to officially nominate Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court of the Untied States. Critics are calling the ceremony a “super spreader event” now that several people who were in attendance have tested positive.

So far, they are both reported to be doing very well.
