President Trump Says that with Judge Barrett on the Supreme Court Roe v. Wade May be Overturned

On Sunday President Trump was interviewed on Fox & Friends Weekend, he said there’s a possibility of Judge Barrett ruling on a “life issue” if she’s confirmed to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court. Co-host Pete Hegseth asked the President if he wanted Roe v. Wade overturned and Trump answered, “So I didn’t think it was for me to discuss that with her because it’s something that she’s going to be ruling on and this is what I was told although I would have had the right to do that.” The ruling of Roe v. Wade made abortion legal nationwide in 1973.

He continued to say that by looking at her past rulings she is conservative “and we’ll have to see how that all works out, but I think it will work out.” Hegseth asked if the Supreme Court would make a ruling on Roe v. Wade. Trump said that it’s very possible, but that he has no idea what that ruling would look like. He mentioned the possibility of it becoming a state decision.

President Trump also said that he wants someone who will interpret the Constitution as written and that’s why he picked Amy Coney Barrett because she is “very strong” with that.

In the interview, Trump said that he could have chosen to discuss certain topics with her but that he chose not to. He said, “I didn’t discuss certain concepts and certain things. And some people say you shouldn’t. I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t. But I decided not to do it. And I think it gives her the freedom to do what she has to do. She has to make rulings. But I think she’s going to make a lot of people very proud.”

He also said he hopes the confirmation will go smoothly. He says there is a chance it won’t, but said it would “be very hard to dispute her qualifications.”

Roe v. Wade would be a great win for Conservatives as they have been trying for decades to abolish abortion in the United States.
